We possess robust pipe stress analysis software – Bentley AutoPIPE – which covers all the major design codes including ASME B31.1, B31.3 and EN 13480.

Axiom regularly uses our capabilities to extract global loadings for targeted FEA of piping systems and evaluation of nozzle loadings. In addition, we survey existing pipework to advise on suitability of supporting steelwork, specify spring boards and have helped specify more challenging issues where expansion joints have been required to help alleviate expansion in confined areas.

We have extensive experience in assessing localised thinning of pipework, levels I, II & III to API579 which assists in the evaluation of piping inspection reports where defects, such as corrosion, have been reported.

Our pipe stress analysis includes, yet is not limited to:

  • Assessing RV tail pipe loads
  • Redesigning supports
  • Low temperature assessments of piping to enable rerating of duties
  • Creation of new or retrospective pipe specification sheets
  • Fitness for service assessments for thinned lines
  • Codal calculations to verify designs following changes to the design conditions
  • Codal assessments of new designs following modification of original design (including geometry and additional features such as spring supports, expansion joints etc.)
  • Calculation of support loads on pipework e.g.: to be used in a structural assessment
