We take a different, and we believe, a more in-depth offering in this area in comparison to other companies who only offer routine Positive Materials Identification (PMI). This generally provides only the elemental composition of a material – which is often insufficient for reverse engineering purposes.
As such, we understand that the elemental composition of a component is only one part of the process and that, to effectively reverse engineer an item ensuring operational safety and reliability, it is necessary to delve much deeper, and that is exactly what we do.
Our in-house testing facilities offer a complete materials assessment service which, together with elemental composition, include determination of mechanical strength, heat treatment condition, weldability and hardness. We also take it one step further to determine whether or not the item has been surface engineered – an important factor that is often overlooked by many PMI providers. Avoiding original equipment manufacturer (OEM) costs, we will work with you to consider enhancements to material that will improve the safety and reliability of plant operation.

We also work closely with other UKAS accredited laboratories for the provision of more specialised services including:
At Axiom, we pride ourselves on going the extra mile to deliver the very best service. With a comprehensive range of techniques, delivered by technical experts, our services provide our clients with complete confidence that the materials chosen are fit for purpose.
