Axiom sponsor grassroots football team

Axiom Engineering Associates are proud to sponsor the Immingham Pilgrims community football club under 8s. The Pilgrims celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and fields boys, girls and mixed teams aged between U7 to U16.

The U8s team play in the Crofts Lincolnshire Junior League and are currently in the third tier of the U8s league pyramid and aspire to greater achievements.

This year, the players have made an “electric” start to the season, winning seven games out of seven and are on track for early mid-season promotion to the second tier.

Coached by Axiom Inspector Stephen Smith, he has high hope for his footballing youngsters.

Stephen said, “Last year as a new team, we struggled for sponsorship and had to rely on parents chipping in to help provide equipment. This year however, has been entirely different as Axiom were extremely keen to help the players on their journey and jumped in to sponsor at the first instance. The sponsorship support from Axiom has been invaluable to these young players. Axiom has provided a full match kit for every player which is a bespoke design from Nike sports, drill tops for the coaches and hygienic professional water bottles for all of the players.”

He added,” As a team of players, coaches and parents, we really cannot thank Axiom Engineering enough for their unrivalled support of this team. It was a pleasure to have Axiom representatives at a recent league match to show our appreciation.”

Axiom will be following the progress of the team closely and cheering them on from the side lines.

Axiom Engineering creates 3 new apprenticeship positions for 2021

Engineering solutions provider, Axiom Engineering Associates has appointed three new apprentices to its business as it continues develop its succession planning strategy and bridge the skills gap within the engineering industry.

Axiom combines three complementary engineering disciplines, Mechanical and Materials engineering with UKAS accredited Inspection services to deliver wraparound asset care for process equipment. Operating across a diverse range of industry sectors both in the UK and internationally, the new apprentices will begin their journey in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) based at the head office in Stockton- on-Tees.

Whilst the business has remained buoyant, the impact of Covid-19 has meant that the apprenticeship programme was paused until it was safe to do so in addition to ensuring the new apprentice intake were able to gain as much hands-on experience as possible. Axiom’s apprentice programme has developed over a number of years as it continued to invest in the local economy which has led to rigorous recruitment process resulting a high calibre of candidates to ultimately secure their places as apprentices in the growing business.

Leader of the apprenticeship programme, Adam Morris, NDT Technical Manager said, “The introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy and a focus on business-led standards has meant that businesses like Axiom can embrace this approach and embed this programme within their recruitment and long-term strategy.”

He added, “We recognise the importance and value of apprentices to the organisation and are committed to our ongoing investment in young talent from the local region. Apprenticeships provide an excellent opportunity not only for candidates to receive training and a career but also businesses which can develop the essential engineering skills that are becoming scarce.

We are delighted to welcome three new apprentices, Kieran Gamble, Max Eastick and Ryan Webster to the Axiom team and will be monitoring their progress closely to ensure that they have every opportunity to learn and succeed within their new roles.”

During the programme, each apprentice will be provided with a structured development plan, tailored to their existing capabilities and support gradual learning with regular external testing to ensure quality standards are achieved. Training is normally a three-year programme as the apprentices become trained in the NDT business area, offering both on-site and office experience and working alongside experienced Axiom NDT technicians and Inspectors. Current apprentices, Matthew Black, Jamie Frew and Daniel Connor have now completed their programme and have secured permanent roles within the business.

Despite the uncertainty of the economic climate during the Covid-19 pandemic, Axiom has continued to forge ahead with its ambitious growth strategy. The company has enjoyed an increasing presence and profile which will be supported by the planned opening of a new office at the Saltend site in Q4 2021. Axiom continues to differentiate itself from its competitors through its integrated offerings, creating value for both their clients and wider stakeholders.
