Axiom expand with a new office in Grangemouth

Axiom Engineering Associates Ltd is delighted to announce the launch of their new Scotland office.

This planned expansion is in response to increasing demand for Axiom’s services in the region. The new office is easily accessible via the M9 and situated closely to the towns of Falkirk and Grangemouth, and situated to serve clients across the Central Belt of Scotland.

This move by Axiom coincides with the appointment of Regional Manager, Kevin Murray, who joined the business in June to focus on business development and delivery in the region.

Kevin Murray said, “I am very proud to be announcing the opening of Axiom’s new office in Grangemouth. Although we are not new to the Scottish market, having developed strong relationships with clients and partners in the region in recent years, establishing a fully-localised offering is a key milestone in ensuring our continued growth. With the level of investment taking place in the Grangemouth area both now and in the coming years, this is a great time for us to make this move.

I fully believe that Axiom’s service offering can play a key part in ensuring that operators continue to maximise returns, further driving the ongoing prosperity of a buoyant local Process sector. The office is also ideally located to allow us to further develop our business nationally, across multiple industry sectors. The opportunity to help the business realise this potential is very exciting, and a key driver behind my move to Axiom.”

Rob Johnson, Director added, “Axiom continue to be ambitious after much success. Although we continue to grow organically, we recognise the potential across key regions and need to position ourselves to ensure we can deliver what we promise. This new office is the perfect springboard for Axiom to work more closely with clients in the region whilst also enabling new clients to take advantage of our new localised presence.”

Further expansion plans are in their early stages however it is envisaged that further announcements will be made by the company shortly.

Axiom take up the ultimate 10 Mile endurance challenge

Axiom Engineering Associates are proud to give their support to an employee who has dared to take on a charity race, with a difference.

Axiom Inspector, Steve Potter has been training daily for the last six months in order to take part in a charity race which historically has been regarded as “The Ultimate 10 Mile Endurance Race”.

Founded by WO1 JJ Wilson, The PARAS’10 race was hosted by The Parachute Regiment in Aldershot from 1982-93. After the Paras left Aldershot, the event was shelved until it was later revived in 2008 by Major Sam McGrath in Catterick, North Yorkshire.

Steve has never taken part in the race before and was keen to build up his fitness steadily before reaching his goal of running 10 miles, carrying a 35lb pack on his back. A rigorous training regime meant that Steve was committed to a strict diet and training regularly over various terrains in the Tees Valley area including the Eston Hills and Carlton Bank. No day was exempt as he kept up with his training schedule even on Christmas Day morning!

Steve will be taking part in the Catterick race which this year takes place on Saturday 7th September with all profits generated by the event donated to the charity, SUPPORT OUR PARAS. This charity delivers valuable support to the Parachute Regiment via welfare of serving soldiers and their families.

Steve said, “I am really looking forward to being part of this amazing race. It is a very demanding course both physically and mentally so I have prepared as much as I can so that I can finish the course in a credible time – I also don’t want to let down all those who have very kindly sponsored me. Thank you to everyone including Axiom Engineering who have agreed donations in support of this charity. We’re looking forward to a fantastic day with plenty of supporters turning out to encourage competitors to the finish line.”

With more than 650 runners taking part, it is sure to be an exciting finale to an incredible day!

Axiom Engineering Associates Ltd joins Chemicals Northwest and achieves key appointment with fellow member, Vynova Runcorn

The North East and the North West of England chemical hubs “mirror” each other in many ways with a line of symmetry cutting down through the Pennines. Both regions have a common beginning from that once titan of industrial innovators which was ICI. Today, the legacy of running aging assets and the challenges to reinvent around new technologies and opportunities in the process sector are shared.

Both regions talk the same language, at least figuratively when it comes to industry, albeit with a different regional twang but both regions feel the same, with engineering know-how and talent that defines the areas landscape and working life.

It is no wonder that Axiom Engineering Associates Ltd has, from its inception in 2003 over in the North East, always found a pull to the North West, providing its services to some of the largest chemical producers, but also some of the smaller mid-size companies that spread across the region.

An excellent example of a business that has the challenge of operating legacy plants, but has an ambitious eye on the future, is Runcorn-based Vynova, a leading European PVC and chlor-alkali company. This top tier COMAH site produces caustic soda as well as chlorine and ethylene dichloride, two essential intermediates for the production of PVC. Axiom has supported Vynova for a number of years with the provision of niche engineering services around its core offerings of mechanical, materials and UKAS accredited inspection services. Following an extensive audit programme conducted by Vynova Runcorn in April 2019, Axiom successfully secured the appointment as Mechanical Design Body and Mechanical Design Verification Authority. With both businesses striving to achieve safe and efficient operation of plant assets in a sustainable manner, this strong partnership is destined to flourish.

In recognition of this and other significant contract awards in the North West, Axiom is looking to build and strengthen its regional presence. In June 2019, Axiom appointed a regional manager for the North West who is already making introductions and checking-in with existing accounts. Like Vynova, Axiom has also now joined the industry-led organisation, “Chemicals Northwest” and looking forward to working with and contributing to this key champion of the region’s chemical sector.

Axiom’s Regional Manager responsible for the North West, Kevin Murray said, “We definitely need to be working with Chemicals Northwest, and given the amount of work we do in that part of the world, membership is long overdue. We’re proud of our involvement in the North East and need to “mirror” that in the North West with focus and ambition. The North East cluster organisation is called NEPIC and we won their “North East Engineering Company of the Year” award for 2019. We now also need to aim high in the North West but recognise that success isn’t just about winning contracts but also about investing time and resource into the region so that local companies, communities and workforce can benefit.”
